Yes! United Charter High School for the Humanities II (UCHS HUM II) is a tuition-free public charter high school serving students in grades 9 through 12. There is no tuition and no application fee. The school is part of the United Charter High Schools network.
Enrollment is lottery-based, with the application deadline in the first week of April. However, there is currently no waitlist. Required documents include a parent/guardian photo ID, proof of address, student immunization records, IEP (if applicable), and a report card or transcript depending on grade level. Acceptance decisions are made within 48 hours.
Yes. UCHS HUM II is an early college institution. Through dual enrollment partnerships with Monroe University and Hostos College, students can earn up to 9 college credits. Courses include Intro to Sociology, Communication, Psychology, and Community Health. Over 20 students have already earned college credits before graduating.
Yes. Students are required to wear a uniform shirt, black pants, and black shoes. The uniform policy helps create a focused, respectful learning environment for all students.
Most classrooms have two teachers through the ICT co-teaching model. The school also offers reading intervention, support classes, office hours four days a week, lunch-hour help from teachers, and Saturday school for Regents preparation. ESE and special education support are available, including an ICT model and dedicated reading support.
Bus transportation is available for students with IEPs. All other students may qualify for a MetroCard based on their proximity to the school. The campus is conveniently located near the 2 and 5 subway lines and several cross-Bronx bus routes.
